The Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad,
Inc is a private provider of 9-1-1 ambulance service to the communities in Lower
Bucks County. Our primary response area includes half of Bristol Township, the
majority of Falls Township, Tullytown, and small portions of Middletown and
Lower Makefield Townships. LFHRS was established in 1955 and is a non-profit
501(c)(3) charitable organization. Our staff consists of a combination of over
125 career and volunteer members providing 24 hour, seven days-a-week advanced
life support ambulance coverage from both our Main Station (Squad 154) located
at 7405 New Falls Rd in Levittown and our Falls Township Station (Squad 155)
located at 48 Makefield Road in Morrisville. LFHRS operates a minimum of one
advance life support ambulance, 24 hours a day, from each of its stations.
During peak times, additional ambulances are placed in service from our main
station to meet the needs of our community.
The Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad, Inc. also provides public education through our Community Outreach, Relations, and Education (C.O.R.E) program. A career member is assigned to handle our community relations on a part time basis in addition to their full time paramedic responsibilities. LFHRS participates routinely in the following:
LFHRS strives to have stellar operational and
administrative departments, and is considered one of, if not one of the most
respected EMS organizations is Bucks County. Leadership and staff education
have been an increased focus over the past few years. LFHRS has emerged from
being just an ambulance squad to an emergency medical services organization in
order to fill the expanding roll of providing the many facets of emergency
preparedness to our community. LFHRS continues to seek out training
opportunities for our staff and management in order to evolve with the emerging
environments revealed to us after September 11, 2001. Our nation has seen many
threats to our community’s safety. Although many strategies are currently in
place to respond to a disaster in our community, LFHRS believes that all of our
personnel must be trained and continue to train in order to react to unique
situations that may occur. LFHRS also believes that better trained EMTs,
Paramedics, and Health Professionals will ultimately provide better support
services to lead agencies in the event of a large-scale emergency.
The Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad,
Inc. is also involved in many other external activities. LFHRS provides
Tactical Emergency Medical Service (TEMS) paramedics to the South Central
Emergency Response Team. We have additional personnel that are assigned for
medical support to the Bucks County Technical Rescue Task Force. LFHRS is one
of only 10 EMS organizations in Bucks County that also participates in the
state’s “Surge” program. This program mobilizes ambulances in our region for
deployment to other areas in the Commonwealth or to other states when needed.
LFHRS also jointly operates Bucks County’s only Emergency Incident
Rehabilitation Unit. This special mobile service vehicle provides “rehab”
services to emergency personnel during extended emergency incidents. This unit
is also equipped with decontamination equipment, medical equipment, and incident
command supplies for mass casualty incidents.
As we look forward, our goal remains focused
on the proud tradition of providing the best in emergency medical services to
our community. It is with a great sense of pride that we will always remember
that we would not be who we are today, if it were not for the continued support
from our community and the tireless efforts and dedication from all our
members. |
